After a long and distinguished career on the bench in the big city, the Magistrate was glad to fulfill his dream of purchasing a large home with sprawling lawns and an ornamental garden.

Of course, in Trillium Bramble, such visions of a noble life as an aging lord of the manor were rather unlikely to be fulfilled.

"Oh, it's wonderfully beautiful there," he confides when in town for brunch with his old law croneys. "It's just the neighbors," he laments, and sighs. His friends shake their heads appreciatively, but really, they have no idea.
